We sleep well knowing he has someone in his home to care for him, support him in doing things he enjoys, support his restrictive diet, and keep him healthy and safe.
Astor handles all the logistics (hiring, scheduling, payroll, etc). They have a deep caring office staff, including a nurse who helps create care plans and support us all with day to day and crisis support. Astor leadership visits often and communicates with us just the right amount. Astor set up interviews with candidates after their own screening process and collected input from us all on the in home caregivers before placing anyone to work with us. Astor and the caregivers are wonderful — day to day and in time of crisis and change.

Astor Health is amazing. When my aunt from NYC recommended them to us for my 91 year old father (from a recommendation from a friend), their agency seemed a lot more comprehensive and full service than any other agency we had heard about or used to that point. Even though Astor did not yet have a presence in the Hartford area where my Dad lives, we trusted their model and assurances that they could "make it happen," and they were right! The agency is truly full service. JP and Lady make you feel like you are their only client. They are very hands on in a supportive way, great problem solvers, and people who care a lot about the "goodness of fit" between the aides and the clients/families. They were so different than other agencies, from the hiring process to how often they check in about all the little details around my Dad's care, including having a nurse on call which is amazing. As for hiring the aides, we are given the unique opportunity to meet/interview candidates ahead on Zoom where they were already extensively vetted for skills and personality matches, and the aides know the first few days on the job are a "trial" for everyone to make sure it's a good fit. When our dad had a fall recently and needed more care, Astor was the first call I made in the ER so they could get the wheels in motion and help us decide whether he could return home with their support or whether he would need to go to a rehab facility. They sprung into action and were able to produce two aides for each shift temporarily so he could safely remain at home. Astor is respectful of the client, the client's family members, and their own staff. I am truly grateful for their enormous role in our family's life at this critical time.
